Superfluous Ink
Inspired by Mar at Monkey Punchers, Homestar Runner and Cyanide and Happiness, I’ve decided to start my own web comic. While at Olive Garden for lunch this afternoon, Mar was drawing a pistol with several barrels and I commented at how “badass unnecessary” the extra barrels was. But I knew there was a better word (one of my most favorite words) for just that sort of thing and after a few minutes of shawshanking through my brain I remembered “superfluous” and mentioned that was the better word I was trying to remember. Mar commented that was the name of the [fictional] company that made the pistol and I said “Superfluous Inc.” A light bulb exploded over my head and I said “THAT’s the name of my web comic!” (this was something I had been considering for some time). Then Mar suggested it be called Ink and I responded with “of course! Because the biggest irony is it’s drawn digitally.” I then ordered the URL (both Ink and Inc versions) on GoDaddy with my iPhone right there in the restaurant; ‘cuz that’s how I roll. And there you have it: the birth of Superfluous Ink.
